    Frequently Asked Questions

How Do You Measure for Replacement Windows?

It is very important that your existing windows are measured carefully for replacement. We measure the window from the top of the sill to the top of the window opening, on both sides of the window as well as the center. The width is also measured in three places from the surface of the jambs. Your window is made to order from the lowest of these three measurements for both the length and width.

How Do I Know I’m Getting a Good Quality Window?

There are many rigorous industry standards when it comes to window quality. The U-value measures the heat transfer that the glass contains, with the higher values providing more insulating power, while the R-factor conveys the resistance of heat conduction of the glass. Look for these values to know you are getting quality windows.

When Does a Roof Need to Be Replaced?

If your shingles are no longer lying flat, or you have noticed leaks, then this is a sure sign that your roof needs replacement. Also, be on the lookout for cracks and breaks in the seams and seals of the roof as these will reduce the protection of your home from water damage.

How Long Can I Expect My Roof to Last?

A roof has a finite lifespan, and typically lasts anywhere from 15-50 years. Knowing the history of your home and when the roof was last replaced is the key way in knowing how much longer it will protect your home. For a good quality roof, you should expect longer than 20 years of use.
